Baseball heads to Joplin

By John Froese

The Presentation College baseball team has had a rough start to the 2021 season. After securing a promising win over a tough opponent in Southwestern College thanks to a dominant pitching performance by freshman Trevor Ball during the opening weekend, the Saints struggled last week.

The Saints were swept in a four-game series by a very talented and seasoned Mount Marty squad, dropping their record to 1-6 on the year.

The good thing about baseball, however, is that it will not be too long before this group will head to Joplin, Missouri to try to get back on track. The Saints are scheduled to play four games over a three day stretch from February 26-28.

Here the Saints will play four different teams, with those being Grand View University Friday at 12:00 P.M, William Penn University Saturday at 10 A.M. followed by University of Jamestown at 12:30 P.M., and then the final game Sunday vs. Park University at 11:00 A.M.

The Saints are incredibly excited to get back on the field, with freshman Trevor Ball saying, “Anytime you have a rough weekend, the urge to go out and play gets a little higher, we want prove that the team we were last weekend is not the team we are going to be all season.”

Indeed, the Saints have a tough hill to climb, but with the determination that these young men have, there is no reason to believe that this team cannot turn the season around quickly.
