Saints Fall to Red Raiders in Extra Innings

By Wyatt Pulscher

The Presentation College Softball team faced off against Northwestern College Friday night in the dome in what turned out to be quite a nail biter. It took not one, but two extra innings for this one to be decided with the Red Raiders taking it with a score of 7-6.

The Red Raiders had a strong showing from several players especially from Madison Beaver. Beaver hit a double in the top of the second inning sending two runners home giving them a 3-1 lead, and then adding a tally of her own later in the game.

Presentation had a star of their own with Courtney Mendoza.

Mendoza started the game off with a triple and then proceeded to score the first run of the game for the saints by capitalizing on a wild pitch tying the game at one. Mendoza later made it to home base two more times for a total of three runs.

“It can only go up from here,” head softball coach Mari Jordan said after the game. “We played a strong game, and our pitcher Darrian Gibson started her first game as a collegiate pitcher and she had a strong showing throughout the game”.

Next the Saints will travel to Tucson Arizona to play Siena Heights University. That game will start at 10 pm.
