The Presentation College Men’s basketball team is off to the best start in program history with a 4-1 record in North Star Conference play, and a 12-7 record overall.
On January 12th, 2019 the team made history with a rather one-sided victory over their conference opponents, Waldorf University. Although the 80-72 victory doesn’t seem like a large margin, the feeling was that the Saints had control for most of the game.
The Saints victory was a notable win to say the least as the team shot 50.8% off of 59 shots and also out-rebounded Waldorf, 38-25.
The Saints started the first half very impressively, as strong play from Devonta Brooks Helped the saints build a solid lead going into half. A huge three-point buzzer beater at the end of the half from Elijah Coleman gave the saints a demanding 39-27 lead going into the break.
Brooks, a senior forward from Cleveland, Ohio had a season high 19 points while only playing 21 total minutes in the game. He shot 9-13 from the field and also added six rebounds to his stat line.
Brooks wasn’t the only Saint to catch fire in the conference battle, three other Saint players scored double digits. (Jalen Guidry 15, Quadre Lollis 12, & Ange-Michel Kuo 12.)
When are the Saints in action again? The Presentation College Saints Men’s Basketball team hosts Mayville State University on Jan.18th @ 7:30 pm.
Mayville is currently third in the North Star Athletic Association with a record of 11-5 and a conference record of 3-2.
This will be another challenge for the Saints in their
quest toward a conference championship.
