Presentation College football recently held its annual end of the season banquet. The banquet is a special time for the players, as they take the time to honor the seniors that have given the program their all, as well as give out end of the season awards.
The Saints had a roller coaster of a season. They began with a loss to Trinity Bible College, which was later converted to a win after Trinity was forced to forfeit for using an ineligible player. The Saints then dropped their home opener against Dakota Wesleyan University, but quickly bounced back against Crown College the following week. Following a loss to nationally ranked Dickinson State University, the Saints earned their first victory over Valley City State University in program history. The team would win its next game against Mayville then drop the next game against Dakota State University. After beating Waldorf University, the following week, the Saints would go on to drop back to back games against Dickinson State University and Valley City State University to close out the season. The Saints saw improvement from their 4-6 campaign last season, finishing 5-5 this year.
The banquet saw many players take home some hardware. Freshman WR Zach Zierdan took home the award for scout special teams MVP. Freshman QB Cole Recker took home scout offensive MVP and Freshman DL Levi King received scout defensive MVP.
Senior WR Logan Weisser, known to most as Megatron, received offensive MVP for the Saints, and senior LB Ty Fox took home the defensive MVP award. Junior OL Jacob Tarrell was given the Trench Award, an award given to the most outstanding lineman. Senior QB Austin Eggl received the True Saint award to cap off the night.
Presentation College’s football program is better having had this senior class lead the program. Their impressions will be long lasting, and their contributions will not be soon forgotten.
