The Presentation Saints volleyball team had their Dig Pink night against the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday. Both teams donned their pink jerseys in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the walls of the strode were decorated with pink ribbons.

Presentation started off the first set on fire, leaping out to a 9-1 lead that was punctuated by 3 kills from Saint’s freshman Evy Peterson. They kept the hot streak going, stretching the lead to 18-8, holding a 10-point advantage. But the Tigers would come roaring back to tie things up at 21 apiece. The Saints regrouped and went on to win the first set, capped off by a pair of kills from Kayla Wolfe.

In the second set, Presentation struggled to get things going. After falling behind 12-5 early in the set, the Saints would make a few runs of their own. They were able to bring themselves within 1, trailing 13-14. The set would remain tight until the scoreboard read 21-21. It was then that the Tigers were able to take the momentum. They would win the set 22-25.

The match was now tied 1-1. The third set started off with Dakota Wesleyan taking an early lead 9-3. The Saints would make a push to try and even things up bringing the score to 8-9. The Tigers would answer back though, racking off 6 straight points. The Saints tried to retaliate with a run of their own, but the Tigers were able to hold onto their lead. They finished the set with 5 straight points. Dakota Wesleyan would win the set 18-25.

In the fourth set the Saints looked like they had figured things out. They started off strong, powered by 2 kills each from sophomores Kayla Wolfe and Jade Gallagher. A service ace from Evy Peterson and another pair of kills from senior Olivia Stet would put the Saints up 14-6. However, Dakota Wesleyan wasn’t done yet. They would claw their way back into the match and eventually cut the Saints lead to 3, the score sitting 17-20. From that point on, the Tigers would score 7 straight points. They would cap off the match with a kill, winning 3 sets to 1.

Offensively the Saints were led by Jade Gallagher with 13 kills. Evy Peterson and Olivia Stet would add 11 each, with Kayla Wolfe adding 7 of her own.

The Saints Maddie Geotz had a career night, dishing out 39 assists. She also had 11 digs which gave Goetz her tenth double-double of the year. Joely Roe also had a season high 44 digs. Olivia Stet ended the night with her second double-double on the season with 14 digs as well.

Presentation will be back in action this weekend as they host their final two home games of the year. Friday the Dakota State Trojans come to town, that game will begin at 6:00 pm in the Strode Activity Center. On Saturday, the Saints will take on Bellevue University at 1:00 pm.
